Persian and Oriental Area Rug Fringe Repair

Fringes are almost always the first area on Oriental or Persian wool or silk handmade rugs that will show signs of wear.

The fringe is simply an extension of the rug’s foundation.   Persian and Oriental area rugs are woven on a loom, and the fringe is an extension of the “warp” foundation threads.  Handwoven area rugs are made using a series of warps and wefts that are woven together like a net.  Wool or silk is then threaded into this net with the end effort being a beautiful area rug.
