BEWARE Who You Invite Into Your Home For Carpet Cleaning.

Knock 1

There are many cleaners out there that claim to be experts in cleaning carpet, tile or upholstery cleaning but only the companies that have certified carpet cleaning technicians are the ones that can back up that claim.

It would be a bad idea to hire a driver without a driver’s license or a dentist who isn’t licensed. It’s also a bad idea to hire a carpet cleaning company whose technicians aren’t certified cleaning specialists.

Non-Certified companies probably aren’t IICRC (Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certified) certified, may not carry liability insurance in case something goes wrong in your home and may employ technicians that are more salesperson than cleaning expert.

Worse yet, many carpet cleaning companies do not carry Workers Compensation insurance in case one of their employees gets hurt in YOUR home.  You may not think this is a big deal because after all, the employer is responsible for the employee in the event they get hurt right?  If an employee gets hurt in YOUR home by slipping, tripping, falling down, etc. and their employer does not carry Workers Compensation insurance, the homeowner will foot the bill.  No, if’s, and’s or but’s!

The carpet, tile, and upholstery cleaning industry watchdog group is known as the Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification, or the IICRC.  One of the IICRC’s main duties is to certify carpet, tile and upholstery companies as well as their employees through a level of competency exams.  In addition, IICRC Certified firms must prove they carry adequate insurance and are competent in all facets of cleaning in which they are certified.

Its ironic many will invite a total stranger in their home based on a coupon they found or the lowest price in town.  Many could care less if the company has insurance, has knowledgeable technicians or if the technician is a sex offender or convicted thief UNTIL something goes wrong.

Tru-Clean Carpet & Tile Care is a Certified Partner with the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) and the international Carpet & Rug Institute (CRI).  In addition, we are A+ rated by the Better Business Bureau and a five-year-in-a-row-winner of the coveted Angie’s List Super Service Award.  We carry liability and workers compensation insurance and our employees are background check twice a year.

Don’t invite just anyone into your home and avoid “kids on commission” salespeople calling themselves “technicians.”  Quality doesn’t have to cost more.

We recently were called to “fix” a problem a discount carpet cleaning company caused at clients home and the homeowner admitted she hired them because they were the “cheapest company she could find.”  When all of her carpeting started turning brown, she contacted the manufacturer of her carpeting to see if they could help.  Shaw Industries told her to contact us to see if we could salvage her textile.

Upon inspection, we discovered the “cheap” carpet cleaner used a detergent designed to clean clothing, overwet the clients carpeting, and would not return dozens of follow-up calls.  We were able to salvage her carpeting by removing suds left behind by the previous carpet cleaner, spraying an acid to remove the browning and cleaning her carpeting as usual.

Being cheap can be expensive!
